Pascal Schamber

PhD Student

Pascal graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Neuroscience in 2018 then worked in biotech studying AAV gene therapy for genetic forms of hearing loss. He joined the PhD program and our lab in 2023 and is excited to study how different interneuron subtypes participate in local brain circuits. He is a perpetual tinkerer and enjoys programming, exploring the outdoors, and traveling to warm places. 

Lina Oh

PhD Student

Lina graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a B.S. in Neuroscience and a B.A. in Public Health Studies. Before joining Tufts, she was a research associate in Dr. Keri Martinowich's lab at the Lieber Institute for Brain Development, where she helped generate transcriptomic profiles of various brain regions implicated in psychiatric disorders using postmortem human brain tissue samples. Lina joined the Neuroscience Program at Tufts in 2024 and is excited to learn more about the neurobiology underlying mood and stress-related disorders. Outside of the lab, she enjoys reading, journaling, snowboarding/skiing in the winter, and making playlists (all year round).

Sammi McLemore

Research Technician

Sammi graduated from Bowdoin College with a B.A. in Neuroscience and Environmental Studies. Prior to joining the Bygrave Lab, she was a research assistant in Dr. Brikha Shrestha’s lab at Mass Eye and Ear, where she helped investigate the role of specific genes during spiral ganglion neuron development on a transcriptional and functional level. Outside of lab, Sammi enjoys reading, running/hiking, and cooking/baking extravagant meals.

Vivian Sanchez Neyra

Vivian is a rising junior undergraduate at Tufts University studying Biomedical Engineering. She’s excited to join the Bygrave Lab as a Laidlaw Scholar and explore her interest in neuroscience through research! Outside of school, Vivian enjoys to read, listen to music, and go to the beach.

Dae Nath

Undergraduate Student

Dae is junior undergraduate at Tufts University studying Cognitive and Brain Sciences. He's excited to work with the Bygrave Lab and delve into the world of neuroscience research! Outside of school, Dae enjoys ballroom dancing, taekwondo, reading, and various arts & crafts.

Taarini Gupta

Undergraduate Student

Taarini Gupta is an undergraduate junior at Tufts University studying biopsychology with a minor in finance! She is excited to join the Bygrave Lab and further explore her interests in translational neuroscience and the biological basis of psychopathology. Outside of academics, Taarini considers herself a journalist, cinephile, and singer-songwriter!

Jesse Freedman

Undergraduate Student

Jesse is an undergraduate student at Tufts University studying Cognitive and Brain Sciences. He is excited to contribute to research aimed at better understanding the neural and molecular mechanisms underlying cognition and behavior. His broader interests include evolutionary neuroscience and how evolutionary processes have shaped neural systems, cognition, and behavior. Outside of the lab, he enjoys training for triathlons, playing ultimate frisbee, trivia, backpacking, watching movies, and listening to music.
